Adam Green Motors EV provides repair and maintenance for electric and hybrid vehicle batteries at our specialist EV centre in Duns.
Even though the battery in your electric car is made to last a long time, as with any other part of the vehicle, problems can occasionally arise. In addition to having specialised equipment and cutting-edge diagnostics to identify the root of any issues, at Adam Green Motors EV our team are trained and skilled in working on high-voltage electric batteries.
How long should an electric car battery last?
The battery of your electric car should have a lifespan of between 100,000 and 200,000 miles, and this will no doubt increase as technology advances. Although the battery’s efficiency will inevitably decline with time, there are steps you can take to prolong its life as much as possible, such as charging it no more than 20% to 80%, avoiding overcharging, and limiting its exposure to extremely high or low temperatures.
What are typical problems with electric car batteries?
Although electric car batteries are quite durable, they will deteriorate over time just like any other vehicle component. However, if you adhere to the above advice, your battery should continue to power your car efficiently for many years to come. Occasionally, batteries can have defects from the manufacturing process, but these may well be covered under your car’s warranty. The only other real issue that we see is if a battery has been left uncharged for an extended period of time, the charging process can then become compromised.
If you have any concerns about the battery in your EV or hybrid, get in touch with our team at Adam Green Motors EV. Because we are experienced and qualified professionals in EV repairs, and because we follow manufacturer guidelines, any remaining warranty on your vehicle will be unaffected.
